Shimmer & Lace for Second Skin

I've been really blessed to have the opportunity to learn a lot about the behind the scenes work that goes into filling a boutique, thanks to Second Skin at Ward.

When I first signed up to help the owner of Second Skin, Alex Famarkis as an assistant buyer, I didn't really realize how much work goes into the job.

We spend days at Pool, Magic, & Project Tradeshows.

I think I walk miles when I'm scouting at these shows.

And since it's held in Las Vegas, my nights are usually filled with wild adventures.

But, seeing some of the newest trends in fashion months ahead of their drop date is really exciting. And I'm super stoked to be able to share my eye and taste in fashion with everyone in Hawaii.

I've got to give it up to these girls... not only is their stuff cute, but it has a beautiful aesthetic that really elevates above most Hawaii designers.

Their collection is small, but I really love the foil detail, and the studded mini-skirts.

We've only just Vegan

A cupcake a day makes the love bug stay!

Try this yummy vegan Chocolate Cupcake recipe!

• Ingredients:
• 1 cup soy milk
• 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
• 3/4 cup granulated sugar
• 1/3 cup canola oil
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/2 teaspoon almond extract, chocolate extract, or more vanilla extract
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/3 cup cocoa powder, Dutch-processed or regular
• 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 
  
• Instructions:
• 1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a muffin pan with paper or foil liners
• 2. Whisk together the soy milk and vinegar in a large bowl, and set aside for a few minutes to curdle. Add the sugar, oil, vanilla extract, and other extract, if using, to the soy milk mixture and beat until foamy. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add in two batches to wet ingredients and beat until no large lumps remain
• 3. Pour into liners, filling 3/4 of the way. Bake 18 to 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Transfer to a cooling rack and let cool completely.
